Tap Fest | Class Descriptions
BEGINNER – those with little or no Tap experience, or tappers who want a review
ADVANCED BEGINNER – dancers with approximately 3+ years of weekly tap classes
INTERMEDIATE – dancers with approximately 5+ years of weekly tap classes
ADVANCED – dancers with approximately 7+ years of weekly tap classes
Space for dancers to hang out, say “hi”, and warm up their feet before we start for the day! *FREE for all Tap Fest participants*
For dancers brand new to tap, or those who want a chance to hone their technique, Kristen will take you through the basics. Beginner.
Jim knows how to get tappers to take up space with quick weight transfers and travelling steps. As Jim likes to say, “Let’s thump and bump!”. Advanced Beginner.
“But what do I do with my arms?!” Peg will help you discover ways of integrating your arms and upper body into your tap dancing. Advanced Begginer/Intermediate.
Come explore exercises and games that will help you step into the improv ring in a safe, supportive environment. All Levels.
Musical Theatre Tap
This class will put a little song in your step. Think 42nd Street or Singin’ in the Rain. Intermediate.
Lindsay will share some of his work he has been exploring on the clave, in particular Brazilian clave. This fun class will explore the basic clave rhythms with an emphasis on the jazz samba music of Antonio Carlos Jobim. Intermediate/Advanced.
Gather together at the end of the day for a short and informal Tap Jam and finish off with a celebratory Shim Sham! *FREE for all Tap Fest participants*
